About this card
The JetBlue Premier Card presents a highly specialized value proposition, earning a 'Fair' overall rating. Its strengths lie in an exceptionally robust rewards program designed for dedicated JetBlue loyalists, including a generous sign-up bonus of 100,000 points, high earning rates (6X on JetBlue, 2X on dining/groceries), and valuable travel benefits such as lounge access, up to $300 in annual travel credits, free checked bags for up to four people, and accelerated progress towards Mosaic status. The 15% points back on award flights and annual bonus points further enhance its appeal for frequent flyers. However, these significant benefits are severely counterbalanced by an exceptionally high $499 annual fee, which is among the highest for co-branded airline cards. This fee makes the card viable only for a very specific, high-spending segment of JetBlue travelers who can consistently maximize nearly all of its perks to offset the cost. Furthermore, the card's APR range (19.49% to 29.49%) is quite poor for a product targeting individuals with excellent credit, making it a very expensive option for carrying a balance. While it offers no foreign transaction fees, the high balance transfer and cash advance fees, coupled with the exorbitant annual fee, significantly detract from its overall value proposition for the average consumer. The card's fit for its target audience is excellent, but its prohibitive cost and high APR create notable limitations that prevent a higher overall rating.
