About this card

The Chase Freedom Flex® credit card earns an excellent overall rating of 4.3 out of 5.0. This assessment is driven by its outstanding rewards program (4.7/5.0) and highly attractive fee structure (4.5/5.0), particularly the absence of an annual fee. The card offers exceptional value for consumers who are proactive in managing their spending, providing lucrative cash back through rotating 5% bonus categories, a solid 5% on Chase Travel, and 3% on dining and drugstore purchases. The generous $200 sign-up bonus with a low spending requirement further enhances its appeal, as does the robust suite of consumer protections and benefits like cell phone protection and DashPass access. The 0% introductory APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers is also a significant short-term advantage. However, the card's primary drawback lies in its high variable regular APR (18.24%-27.74%) after the introductory period, leading to a lower APR rating (1.9/5.0). This makes the card less suitable for those who frequently carry a balance, as interest charges could quickly negate any rewards earned. Additionally, while minor, the need to actively activate the quarterly bonus categories and the $1,500 spending cap on these categories require some user engagement. Despite these limitations, for financially responsible cardholders who pay their balances in full each month and are willing to track bonus categories, the Chase Freedom Flex stands out as one of the best cash back cards available, offering immense long-term value within the powerful Chase Ultimate Rewards ecosystem.
