About this card
The Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card is a decent travel card for Delta loyalists, but it's not without its drawbacks. Its strengths lie in its rewards program, particularly the 2x miles on Delta purchases, dining, and groceries, as well as the valuable Delta-specific perks such as the first checked bag free and in-flight purchase discounts. The sign-up bonus can also be quite attractive. However, the card is let down by its high APR and the annual fee after the first year, which necessitates frequent Delta travel to justify. Its value is highly dependent on whether the cardholder can leverage these Delta benefits to offset the cost.
