About this card

The Old Navy Encore Mastercard receives an overall rating of 1.8, placing it in the 'Poor' category. This assessment is primarily driven by its exceptionally high regular APR of 33.24%, which is a critical drawback for any credit card, particularly one targeting individuals with 'Fair' credit scores who may be more prone to carrying a balance. While the card offers appealing rewards for loyal shoppers within the Gap Inc. family of brands (5x points) and comes with no annual fee, these benefits are severely undermined by the prohibitive cost of carrying a balance. The rewards, while strong in a niche, become effectively worthless or even detrimental when subjected to such high interest charges. Redemption options are also quite restrictive, further limiting its appeal. The fee structure is a mixed bag: excellent with no annual fee, but high with its balance transfer fees. The card's reputation is highly polarized, viewed positively only by a very specific segment of consumers who consistently pay their balance in full. For the vast majority of consumers, and especially those who might need to carry a balance, the significant financial risk posed by the APR far outweighs any potential rewards or fee advantages, making it a low-value and generally not recommended option.
