Dallas (DFW) Lounge Gets a Major Upgrade
As one of the earliest airports to host a Centurion Lounge, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is set for a significant renovation. Expected to open in 2027, the expanded lounge in Terminal D near Gate D12 will grow by nearly 50%. This much-needed space will add more seating, a new dining area, a second full-service bar, and a fun new feature: a walk-up ice cream window for a quick treat before your flight.
Boston (BOS) to Welcome a New Flagship Lounge
Travelers passing through Boston will have a brand-new, top-tier lounge to look forward to. American Express plans to open a new two-story flagship Centurion Lounge at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) in 2029. Set to be one of the largest lounges in the entire network, its standout feature will be an outdoor terrace, providing a rare opportunity for open-air relaxation at the airport. The design will draw inspiration from Boston's maritime history and include dedicated workstations for business travelers.
Charlotte (CLT) Introduces the "Sidecar" Concept
In a creative approach to managing lounge traffic, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) will get a new "Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge" on Concourse A, slated to open in 2027. This new concept is designed for travelers with shorter layovers, specifically for those with 90 minutes or less before departure.
Inspired by Prohibition-era speakeasies, the Sidecar lounge will offer a more intimate setting with Southern charm. Instead of a traditional buffet, guests can use a QR code for restaurant-style ordering, with food and drinks delivered directly to their table. The lounge will also feature a Blue Roast by American Express Coffee bar. According to Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel, the Sidecar concept was developed because "a significant portion of Centurion Lounge visitors stay for an hour or less," providing a convenient alternative to the main lounge.

This expansion comes as no surprise, with a record over 904 million travelers passing through TSA checkpoints in the U.S. last year. The Centurion Lounges, recently named the top U.S. airport lounge by J.D. Power, are a key differentiator for American Express. The premium experience is anchored by high-quality amenities, including a culinary program curated by chefs from The Culinary Collective by The Centurion Lounge. By adding more space and new formats, Amex aims to reduce overcrowding and maintain the high standard its cardholders expect.

Complimentary access to the American Express Centurion Lounge network is a signature benefit for The Platinum Card® from American Express and Centurion Members. While the card comes with a significant annual fee of $895 per year, frequent travelers often find that perks like lounge access easily justify the cost.
The expansion isn't limited to the U.S. American Express has also announced new Centurion Lounge locations for Newark (EWR) and Amsterdam (AMS), and recently opened a new lounge in New Delhi (DEL).
