About this card

The Chase Slate® Credit Card earns an overall rating of 3.5 ('Good') due to its exceptional strength in its niche as a debt management and balance transfer tool, significantly offset by its complete lack of a rewards program. The card's primary advantage is its outstanding 0% introductory APR for 21 months on both purchases and balance transfers (APR Rating: 4.1). This lengthy interest-free period, combined with no annual fee (Fees Rating: 4.2), offers substantial value for consumers looking to consolidate high-interest debt or finance a large purchase without immediate interest accrual. The card also benefits from Chase's strong reputation, providing reliable customer service and additional cardholder protections. However, its major drawback, and the reason it doesn't achieve a higher rating, is the complete absence of any rewards program (Rewards Rating: 1.0). This means the card offers no long-term value for everyday spending once the introductory APR period expires. Furthermore, while the introductory APR is excellent, the subsequent variable regular APR can be quite high (18.24% to 28.24%), making it less attractive for carrying a balance post-intro period. In summary, the Chase Slate is an excellent, specialized card for a very specific purpose (debt relief), but its utility is severely limited beyond that, making it a temporary solution rather than a versatile, long-term credit card.
