About this card
The Discover it® Chrome Gas & Restaurant Credit Card is a decent card, especially for those new to credit or who prefer a straightforward rewards program. Its strengths lie in the lack of an annual fee, the solid first-year Cashback Match, and the 2% cash back on common spending categories like gas and restaurants. The Discover reputation is a strong point. However, the card is limited by its restrictive $1,000 quarterly spending cap on bonus categories and its relatively high ongoing APR. While the intro APR is a plus, the long-term value is moderate compared to other cash back cards, including Discover's own it® Cash Back card. The APR range also is a weak point, with the high end being substantially higher than other cards with similar credit requirements.
