About this card
The Instacart Mastercard is a decent card, primarily valuable for frequent Instacart users. Its strengths lie in the absence of an annual fee, a reasonable rewards program, and a $50 Instacart credit sign-up bonus. The 5% cash back on Instacart and Chase Travel purchases is attractive, but the $6,000 annual spending cap limits its potential for high spenders. The 2% category bonuses on restaurants, gas, and streaming are a plus, while the 1% on everything else is standard. The high APR range (18.24% - 29.99%) is a significant drawback, especially for a card targeting those with good credit. The lack of foreign transaction fees is a plus. While the rewards are beneficial for Instacart users, they are less compelling for others. Given these factors, a 3.0 rating reflects a 'good' card with specific strengths and weaknesses that cater to a niche audience. The high APR and limited rewards categories beyond Instacart prevent a higher rating.
